Lázaro, a recently graduated psychologist, arrives in Mexico City to take on a strange and challenging job: to be the "shadow" of Rodrigo, a boy with Asperger's syndrome who lives under the suffocating control of his mother, María Luisa. Upon settling into the enigmatic building where Rodrigo, María Luisa, and Juana, Rodrigo's mute twin, live, Lázaro begins to experience strange phenomena and disturbing revelations, suggesting that Rodrigo possesses abilities beyond comprehension and that the family environment harbors profoundly dark secrets ranging from religious fear and fanaticism to torture and control.

All this while he finds himself increasingly unable to leave the building, which, despite being modern and immaculate, seems strangely abandoned.

Torn between fascination and fear for Rodrigo and his family, Lázaro finds himself drawn to the mysterious Minerva, whose unsettling yet alluring presence further complicates matters. Soon, the job he accepted as a simple professional assignment, almost as a favor to his university mentor, will ensnare him in a web of psychological tension and supernatural phenomena, forcing him to confront his own fears and discover the lengths to which he is willing to go to save himself and Rodrigo.
